Modern Warfare 4 is officially set for October 2026

Activision’s official Call of Duty reveal confirms Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 as the next mainline entry, with launch planned for October 23, 2026. The game is listed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, while last-generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are not part of the announced platform slate.

The campaign setup moves the rebooted Modern Warfare timeline into a conflict on the Korean Peninsula. Activision describes the central conflict around a North Korean invasion, while Captain Price leads an off-book mission that intersects with the wider war. That gives MW4 both a large-scale military backdrop and a Task Force-style covert thread for returning campaign fans.

The platform news is especially notable for Nintendo players. Activision says MW4 is being developed natively for Nintendo Switch 2 with support from Digital Legends, rather than being positioned as a cloud-only or late port. That makes MW4 one of the clearest early signs of Activision’s renewed commitment to Nintendo hardware under Microsoft ownership.

Warzone will also move into the MW4 cycle. Activision says MW4 content and seasonal progression will come to Warzone beginning with Season 1, while Warzone support on PS4 and Xbox One is scheduled to end when that new season starts. For players still using older consoles, that makes MW4’s launch window a practical cutoff point for future Call of Duty ecosystem support.
